Blue Eyes

Three things strike me about this picture:
1-his adorable, blue eyes
2-all that hair
3-his foot in his face!

Chilly chill

Greg's friend gave us his freezer. Now 20 cubic feet of cold space is calling out to be used. I have NO idea what to fill it with. Any good suggestions?

Mimi's Cake

Greg, on his way outside to talk to me:"It's so cute. Mimi is on the computer looking for a birthday present for you on a Disney website."

Later

Mimi:"Mom, What do you want for your birthday?"

Me:"Mmmm...How about Cinderella?"

Later

Mimi:"I can't find that. How about Handy Manny?"

This is the cake she found for me. I love it!

On the Farm

Ahh, one more exam over with. Now it's time for fun. For our first adventure we visited our friends in Indiana. They moved there just about the same time we moved to Ohio and yet this is only the 3rd time we've seen each other.
At first Mimi was nervous about the little kitties, but she obviously warmed up to them.
Friend:"Is this going to end up on Pasta and Sauce?"
Me:"Yes"
We took advantage of their big property to practice some baseball.
Their baby kindly let our baby sleep in his crib:)

They have this really cool, old farmhouse that they renovated. I was so jealous!
Beautiful garden, puts mine to shame!

Mimi's soccer

Mimi has been asking to play soccer for forever, so we signed her up. I love this class, the teacher takes teaching them very seriously. They run real drills and he expects them to do as they are told, and guess what- They do it. They are 3-5 year-olds, so they occasionally cry, or lay down on the floor, or wrestle in the goal (see below), but they really get into it. The pictures are terrible, is there a way to get good pictures in a gym?
Mimi actually got to the ball this week.
Baby C kicked the camera so it's a little off, but here's Mimi doing a throw-in. (see the boys wrestling in the goal?)
Here she is happily kicking the ball.
Greg took some time during his lunch to come and watch. Baby C loves watching the kiddos running around.

Our First Crop

For about 10+ days we have been harvesting the lettuce. Yum.
(the tomatoes are from Costco:)

As Per Request

Here's Mimi's milk mustache. Only this time she said she looked like daddy.

Learning

Me:"Mimi, please hand me the remote"
Mimi:"Which one?"
Me:"the one of the left"
Mimi:"ummm, what is left?"
__________

Indiana while doing a math assignment. He had to look in the newspaper for items that cost less then $1:"Is 'FREE' less then a dollar?"

Daddy's trick

Greg loves this current stage of baby-hood so he can do this:
Once the baby gets his/her own sense of balance, the game is over. But until then, Greg does this at every opportunity.

Old/New

Old Garden
We couldn't reach stuff. We had to climb (or trip) over the fence.

New Garden
Now we can reach everything. More room to grow more good food.

Old oven
Took forever to warm up. Dented on the top surface so everything rolled to the middle. Generally ugly. Wrong colors.

New oven
Flat surface! Trending toward the right color (we are slowly switching everything to white appliances). Middle grill burner. Bakes awesome. Handle to hold baby's bibs.

Old Car
Leaked oil. So long Honda, Thanks Nana & Grandpa!

New (to us) Car
Doesn't leak oil. Fits all 5 of us with room to spare. Honestly, I'm more excited about the new oven. But it does have a TAPE player! Wahoo! I can finally unpack some wicked awesome mix tapes from the 90's!

Eye Poping!

www.bakerella.com
Every now and then I think I could maybe pull off some of the cute things that she does, but this one, I just might try!

Our new neighbor

We came home from vacation to find this on our front porch. I love it.

More Chess

Greg got a new chess set. Something a little easier for the kids to learn with. Indiana is really getting into it!
So is Mimi, only she likes to make up her own rules. For example, if a piece has a small plastic ring around it--from a toy, she calls them tutus--that piece can't get captured. Silly.

Detour

On our way back to Ohio Greg sweetly took us on a bit of a detour. Maplewood!

Mmmm... fresh bagels...
When I was in high school, the town got together some volunteers to paint the tunnels for the commuter train that leads into NYC. My friends and I got to paint the biggest, coolest section of the whole train station! We painted an underwater scene. Well, years later, most of the tunnels have been painted over--wear and tear, graffiti, etc. But the new mural faded a little and you can still make out my little crab that I painted all those years ago!

This is the house I grew up in. I cried a little seeing it again after SO many years. They have made some changes of course, and I didn't think it was possible, but it's cuter!

Cloisters

Again, my ancient camera brought laughter, so Sonya took most of the pictures. (Plus, I think the film is still in the camera.)
Mimi as Humpty Dumpty
I love this place, and I love this picture.
