Funny things that adults said while in Cape May

While watching the fireworks:"Shouldn't we all be saying 'Ohh' and 'Ahh'?"

While playing boxing on the Wii:"What I am supposed to do? Just punch someone in the face?!"

Me defending the fact that I married a nerd:"Nerds pay the bills"

Me to Mimi:"Don't lick the ocean!"

Meet this guy

Anytime someone comes over, Superman creates a version of that person on our Wii. This guy came over to buy our futon and before we knew it, there he was on our TV.

Here's us on the first piece of furniture that we bought together as a married couple (all those years ago) and now it's gone *sniff*. Is it silly to be sentimental about a lumpy, creaky, second-hand futon?

CannonBall!

Mimi insisted on wearing Superman's bathing suit. When she insists on doing something that is both not dangerous AND really funny, I have to allow her.

something's missing

you may notice that I'm rarely pictured on this blog, there is a reason for that...I'm the only one that take pictures, I am the mom, after all. But since I was with MY mom in Cape May, she of course took some pictures!

noise at BJ's

Mimi the gardener, she loves the dirt as much as I do, well maybe a little more.
Me:"What are you doing?"
Mimi:"I planting seeds, I planting seeds."
Me--picking up the children, putting them in the double-kid grocery cart, and reacting to how heavy they are:"Why are you so big?"
Superman:"Food growed us."
Me*laughing*
SM:"What? Did you think it would shrink us?"

Mimi and SM yelling, tickling, and giggling SO loud!
Me:"Why are you being so noisy?"
SM:"Because no one is asleep"

Nightmares

Superman has been sleeping in Mimi's room since she has an A/C unit and he has an "air conditioner fan" as he calls it, and that's just not cool enough some nights. The other morning he told us this:"I had a terrible nightmare, terrible. Mimi's clothes were trying to talk to me. They said quiet things."

We have since closed her closet.

As I drove home from the post office last night I noticed some branches in the street. I drove around them, parked and walked back to move them out of the street. I started picking it up, but none of it made sense, it wasn't a branch, but really small twigs purposefully broken into small segments. All the leaves were dry, but still green. Then the nightmare started...

I saw the first, and the second, and then what I thought were tons of tiny babies lying on the ground. I ran to get Greg. He scooped them up (there were only 4) in a shovel and pail from the sand box. We moved them away from the road, along with what realized was a nest. We looked up and saw the momma squirrel looking in the other half of the nest for it's babies.

We were meant to save those babies. How did I come upon them just moments after it happened? How could no one else have driven by before we got them safely out of the way? We didn't accidentally touch any of the babies, or even step on them. This nightmare turned out ok.

More of Cape May

After playing in the water--which at times, was chilly--the kids would run up the beach and dive, over and over again, in the warm sand.

More silly from Mimi

"I...I pretending to be a cat...Meow...Meow"

Mimi:"I pretending to be a baby, you pretending to be a mommy"
Me:"You've never been more right about anything!"

Mimi's Favorite Star Wars Quote

She's just sits, plays with her toys and says this. We are a house of nerds!

Kite Flying

Launch and retrieve were Superman's favorite parts. Greg was holding on to the string, otherwise the wind would have taken Mimi away.

Mimi:"I want to fly I [my] kite!"

Discussion

What we talked about MOST at Cape May this summer: STAR WARS!

Favorite quotes from the movie:

Superman: "Great shot, kid. That was one in a million!"
Me:"Help me, Obi Wan Kenobi. You're my only hope"
Greg:"We're going in, we're going in full throttle."
Mimi"Luke! Luke!"

I'm not kidding, every bike ride, every walk to the beach, everyday. Superman continues to be so into it, it's crazy, and Greg couldn't be happier.

Feel free to add your favorite line from Star Wars :)

Cape May Point Lighthouse

What Mimi hugged/kissed while on vacation:

1-Ketchup and mustard bottle:"small...big"

2-her sandcastle

3-The lighthouse

In a lighthouse, at the Jersey Shore, my mom couldn't be happier.

My sister Sonya wasn't even winded when climbing the 199 steps of the lighthouse--that's what a 5-story walk up will do for you.

What Mimi ate:
1-more wax
2-Milk
3-sand
4-an occasional hot dog
5-salt water
6-no other food

Things people on the beach said of our children:

1-"full of life"
2-"joy to watch"
3-"stunning"
4-"no fear"

What I could have said:"Come take a look at 5:30 am tomorrow"

What I said:"Thanks"

Cape May Point

Funny things Superman said at Cape May this year:

1-(After being knocked down and rescued from the life guard at least 3 times in unusually rough waves): "I'm stronger then the waves"
2-(After seeing people decorate for the 4th of July): "Who's birthday is it?"
(Us at the Delaware fireworks on July 3rd-the night the fireworks didn't start 40 minutes early, end 30 minutes early, and finally get canceled because of lighting storm--all before I found a seat)

3-(After Aunt Sonya convinced him to use the bathroom): "She's good at looking at bummies"

4-(To the guy that dropped on the rental bikes): "Hey, big fella"
5-(To the girl on the beach who he was playing paddle-ball with, but confused it with tennis on the Wii):"I'll teach you how to play tennis--first you press "A..."

6-(The day we celebrated my mom's birthday):"Let's make her a crown!"7-"Wrong Song!" (long story)
