Random happenings

While she was here, my sister painted Yoda's room.  Yoda helped for like 5 minutes, she did the rest!
Did I mention Yoda joined a new Boy Scout Troop?  It's a totally different experience.  Greg and Yoda have been very busy!
Mimi started driving!

Silver award

Mimi is working on her Girl Scout Silver Award.  One part is to post a video on-line to explain her award to the world.  To keep it somewhat anonymous she made a drawing of herself to post with the video...

Parker's last campout

It was a strong finish for Parker with scouts.  He very easily could have said, "no more, thank you very much", but he stuck with it when he could.  He'd camp, help younger scouts, attend courts of honor, etc.

Last month he had his last camp out, Greg went along too.  Next year we'll see what our next move is with scouts for Yoda, who knows...

They took along our bows and arrows (thanks, Dad!)

Bio Art

A few weeks ago we went to a Girl Scout outing where they taught us about bacteria.  Then they gave us Petri dishes and we sort of brushed the bacteria to create a picture.

Mimi did BB8 and I did Starry Night
The day of, it looked like almost nothing.
A few days later the bacteria grew and created these...

Girl Scout Day Camp

Mimi had her last year of day camp as a camper.  Next year (if all things work out as we plan) she will go back as a junior leader.  She'll help the younger scouts get around camp and learn all the fun stuff to do in the outdoors!

One fun thing about camp is picking your camp-name.  She played with this over the years and this year she landed on Ducky, it's perfect!  She adores rubber duckies, so it's playful.  But also, ducks are in nature, she's so clever!

My camp name is Watson in case you wanted to know :)

Here she is on the Quiddich obstacle course.  The theme this year was Wizarding School.
 Caller for flag ceremony.
She's on the right leading a silly song.
They were all yelling "Ducky, Ducky, Ducky!"  I came over and saw this.  She's in the middle somewhere.
Being all responsible and helping the younger campers.
 Perfecting her fire-building skills.

Cub Scout Day Camp

Yoda has been begging for Cub Scout Day Camp for YEARS!  This was his year.  So of course he got strep right in the middle of it.

Monday he started out strong, it was also the HOTTEST day of the week.

He was the popular kid with a cool battery-powered fan and a water mister.

But half-way through Tuesday he was fading.  No fever or sore throat, he just seemed overwhelmed by the heat.

But he stuck to it and tried to make it a great day.

This is when I dragged him to the nurse's station.  After some A/C and lots of Gatorade, he was ready to go again!

 Wednesday he hung in there...
With bursts of energy now and then.
Still no fever, loss of appetite, sore throat, nothing.
Then Thursday he spiked a fever and finally on Sunday his fever was so bad we took him to the urgent care.  After a day they called back and said he did, in fact, have strep.  Poor guy, though he only missed 1 and 1/2 of the days, and they were less exciting then the ones he attended.  Hopefully next year will be better!

While feeling lousing and thinking of himself as a character in a video game he said to me in a weak voice, "...my life points..."

High Adventure

Greg and Parker were off to their 2nd High Adventure....

Since they were such pros from last year, they just kinda copied all their old plans.
They checked their gear...

And bought a few on-the-way-home snacks, these ended up being SO appreciated.  Their last night and morning they left, the rain was NON-STOP.  The stream they needed to cross was now a river.  And they left camp before eating breakfast.  When they made it to the cars everyone was exhausted and hungry.  They devoured the pop-tarts.

 Ready to go!
On the trail.

 So much rain

Finally home about 6-8 hours later then expected!
