Scout Update

Parker and his 11-year-old boy scout leaders worked hard this summer, he made it to Tenderfoot rank.

Also in scouting news...

I put all our scout stuff in shadow boxes that weren't already boxed.  But before I did I wanted a photo of Mimi in my old sash that my mom saved for me.

 Yoda "photo-bomb" Gibby

Mimi has 20+ patches on the back of her Brownie vest, but I had a precious few back in the day.  There was one I liked SO much I took it off of the sash some time in High School and sewed it on my back pack.  It's now lost, but all these years later I wanted to have my sash back in it's complete form.
Enter Ebay!
I found someone selling the exact patch!  So I bought it and added it to my shadow box.  A few weeks ago I finally hung up all the boxes.
Of course all my patches started falling down!  DOH!!!

The patch I was referring to is the green flag.
It's in upper-right-hand corner of the shadow box on the left....

Yoda's first day of Preschool

Yoda was READY for his first day of preschool.  SO happy to get the year started!  I asked him where he wanted his picture taken and he wanted to stand by our new tree.  We just had it planted this summer, I love it too!  Yoda and this tree have the same middle name (Glen), so he feels especially fond of it.

Bathrooms Day One

So for 6 years I've complained about our bathrooms, here's a short list of my complaints:

Nothing special
Old, but not in a good way
Weird, ours is weird
The floor is so worn it's slippery
Nothing is painted nicely

Today we started tearing things out...

Our bathroom... It's a sink... in our bedroom.  Weird.  Now that we've lived with it for 6 years, I kinda forget just how weird it is.

Kid's bathroom, nothing special.  The blue is tired.  I want something different!
Wish us luck!!!

Mimi's day with the horses

Mimi went to a birthday party and she got to ride a horse for the first time.  She was excited, then nervous, then confident.  She did better then I thought, but had to be redirected a few times from the women helping.  It was a beautiful day and she couldn't have been happier.

Here's a couple videos for fun...

Mimi, "good thing I'm wearing cowboy boots"

In this one the instructor make the *click* sound to get the horse going faster.  Mimi made the cutest little "ugh" sound.  This made me giggle.

When another girl says she wants to slow down the instructor reminds all of them to pull the reigns to their belly button to slow down, and that's what Mimi did.  She calmed down.

Me, "Smile!"

Great News

Yoda learned to ride a 2 wheeler

*small victories are what I live for*

video

Yoda, "I'm going to ride this...my old bike without training wheels."
Me: giggle and "wahoo!"
Yoda, "That's so Epic!"

I owe it all the balance bike that I got him a year or so ago (for $15 second-hand).  He had almost no trouble switching to a two-wheeler once he was really ready.

Here he is showing how that bike works.

Foodie and Photobomb

Occasionally Yoda sits at the table like this...

and this comes to mind...

While taking this Charlie-Brown-type photo, Mimi decided to jump in.

Then Yoda jumped in the photo I was trying to take of her and her new boots.

++++++++++++
Also, we went to a place I've been meaning to go for a LONG while.  It's a diner that has all sorts of doughnuts and stuff.  Parker got the burger and I got the breakfast sandwich, both have a doughnut instead of a bun.  It read "basically it's the best thing ever" and it was.  Calories smalories...
