Another Score

Stripes are in the lead:2

Mimi, talking about her outfit that she picked out all by herself:"I look nice."

I love the wild combination of stripes and colors--I can't blame her--you all know we love stripes! We got many laughs at Costco today.

We don't have back yard furniture yet, so we pulled out some folding chairs to eat lunch. First Mimi dragged out the crackers, then she dragged out her own chair--such independence.

Easter '09

Silly me, I still haven't reported on Easter, and I know there are some of you who are so curious if the sweaters made it for a 3rd year--the answer is YES! (at the bottom I have a recap of the Easter sweater saga.)

We invited Greg's family over for the hunt and some cupcake decorating. I tried making the cc's from scratch, but not using the Magnolia recipe, I'll never make that mistake again!

I found some cute Easter themed finger puppets, and we have been entertained by them ever since!

__________

And now the Easter sweater recap:
My mom, makes this sweater for all her grand kids--different colors and sizes. She made this one for Indiana in 2004--1.5 years-old, and although he loved it, it seemed a little big, so we saved it, and saved it, and saved it...
Finally, in 2006 he seemed big enough to wear it, and lucky, Mimi got one, too!
Then in 2007 they became the "Easter sweaters".
And, as you know, they wore them last year.

Indiana's Career Path

When he was 3 he wanted to be "first a missionary, then Santa"
When he was 4 he wanted to Superman
Lately he has wanted to be a Space Ranger.

But for career day he needed to bring to school a tool that he would need for his future career. I was stumped on what he should bring in. I called Greg for help and we went through a bunch of things he could be when grows up and from somewhere he decided on a photographer. Thank goodness, I wasn't sure how I was going to come up with a helmet or pop-out glider wings.

Then the other day he questioned something about Greg and his fatherhood, I asked:"Well, what will you do when you're a dad?"
His response:"I'm not going to be a dad, I'm going to be a photographer, remember?"

Year Book

Indiana came home with his first yearbook, it's so cute. It also has a year-in-review section.
"First, there's all the old kids, and then look, Barack Obama!" Then he flips to the VERY end, "and here's ME! Here, take a closer look."

Spring Break Day 5

Friday = Wii
First, a little at Nana's house--thanks for taking the little ones while I helped out the funeral! Then at home, where I CRASHED after helping at said funeral. Pretty much that was it. We had a fun week.

Spring Break Day 4

Thursday = Hike

As soon as I said we were going on a hike by the river, Mimi said:"I frow wocks in da wiber like dis!"
["I throw rocks in the river like this!"]

Mimi found this stick and called it a "bone-stick". I think she's referring to the idea below.
Later we saw a Heron like this:
As it flew away Indiana said:"I think it's like Watto"

Spring Break Day 3

Wednesday = Egg Hunt

Mimi insisted on the this adorable, tiny basket, and was content with just 3 eggs, and then stealing from Indiana's bigger basket, and since he doesn't have much of a sweet tooth he was fine with that too.

Scooter ride

Mimi received a scooter among her many good birthday presents. She is not very fast, but that's not scooter rides are all about. There's also looking good! My favorite part is the pearls.

Spring Break Day 2

Tuesday=Ikea
Yeah, you may think it's not that exciting, but the company was TERRIFIC! At the last minute I asked my friend (who also randomly moved from Boston to the Ohio area) to meet up and she suggested Ikea in Cincinnati, how could I say no? It's what we loved doing in Boston anyway, so we met up and had wonderful time!

Spring Break Day 1

I wanted to do something everyday, even if it's stuff we've already done, we simply needed to get out of the house. So far this is what we have done:
Monday = COSI
We've been here at least 6 times and have forgotten the camera each time, well this time I was NOT going to do that again:

Spring

I made this camera out of a soap box and toilet paper tube, then covered it with black paper, for Indiana's career day. If you look close, I put the shutter button on the left side for my little lefty.I love this picture for several reasons: That Mimi dressed herself and nothing really matches and she is wearing no socks, that she has the food on her shirt that she snuck out of the pantry, that she is holding the camera's view finder up to her eye like a film camera (not a digital), and that she is standing with her knees slightly bent to not only get better perceptive for her pretend picture, but to steady her shot since she is clearly using natural light, not a flash.
___________
Indiana ran out of my room after making my bed, wanting to surprise me:"I did some elf-work!"
___________
Mimi, trying to get her shirt on, but needing some help:"Can you help me find my head?"
___________
My very cool sisters gave me a Wii Fit for an early birthday present, but I haven't been able to play with it much since everyone else so excited about it, too. Yesterday everyone was really quiet in the house, and I called out:"Is dad asleep?"
Greg called back:"no, I'm just ski jumping."
___________
Indiana and Greg just turned on the Wii fit and saw that my posture has improved over the two days, so Indi ran to me and said:"Nice posture, Mom!"Here is Indiana's Mii dressed up as a penguin
The point of the game is to balance on the board and strengthen your core muscles. Here he is catching fish on an ice flow.
___________

This week while Greg's mom was in Iowa helping Greg's sister with her new baby, and Greg's dad was at some big meeting of actuaries, Greg's little sister came for a visit. Indiana and Mimi had a blast.

Gearing up for Easter

We got some new plastic Easter eggs, but didn't get the candy yet. (I don't believe in buying holiday candy until the day it's needed, otherwise I eat it and then, I have to buy it again, the day it's needed.) Mimi was worried we didn't have the candy yet, but then found a solution to her problem, while remembering the egg hunt from last year:
"I know! The candy is in the back yard!"

Later while playing with the eggs, Mimi said:"I know what can grow from my egg! A doggie! ROOF! ROOF!"
