Sorry for the delay...

Today was a morning I did not want to get out of bed--it's too cold, even for me. But excitement arrived when my friend called saying she may be in labor and would I come over and watch her girls. I was so glad to have a reason to get up, and it felt good to help. Truth is, not much happened this week I feel I can share, mostly potty training incidents, and I won't publish that. I'll have to be creative.
I realize that you may not be amazed at what Mimi said today, but I was, it was so direct and clear. She came to me and said "Help, cow, stuck" I thought it was just babble, but she lead me to her toy cow that actually was stuck and in need of help.

PS, the bag on Mimi's head was designed by MY friend who works at Trader Joe's. I tell people this all the time, but only the cool ones are impressed.

IKEA

We went to Ikea this week with a friend. We were loading up in their minivan and Heather asked me if I knew how to get there. I assured her that I did in fact know how to get there, but Superman asked in exasperated voice "You don't know how to get to Ikea? We should go in our Saturn, it knows how to get there!"
Putting on an ostrich puppet show. In June 2007 I posted that Ikea was a great place to beat the heat, it is also a great place to get out of the cold. I guess that's why I don't make it there in the Spring and Fall since they are the best times of the year.

Writer's Strike

For 5 years Superman has become more and more cheesy for the camera, he is starting, however, to run from the camera. I don't know if this shot was a throw back to the cheese, so he posed as a ninja (with a toy blender and a real turkey baster), or he was on his way out of the room and we caught him mid-turn. But he's definitely closing his eyes in an attempt to avoid being seen--do all kids think that works? If you click on the picture, you can see him a little better, and my messy living room.

I've been really worried about the writer's strike driving me crazy, but PBS has come to the rescue! Not just with Thursday night This Old House Hour, but now Sunday nights too! Starting tomorrow they are playing all sorts of Jane Austin on Masterpiece. Whew! 4 are new, 2 are tried and true. I can't wait to see Persuasion, I only just read it this Fall, and I loved it. Something about 2 people being separated for a long time, it just got to me...

What Mimi said

This morning I went in to get Mimi out of bed. I brought in some milk in a blue cup. I was getting her clothes out for the day. Not used to getting dressed at such an hour, she didn't understand why I wasn't giving her milk and getting her out of bed. Coaxing me to do the right thing she said,
"Blue Milk" and "get-out-please" (a soft quiet command).

What Superman said

Mimi was falling asleep in the car and I was trying to keep her awake until we got home, Superman helped out by yelling at her
"Wake up you shiny little chap!"

When waiting for a friend to show up, Superman looked out the window and said:
"And when he comes, I will shout out with glee."

Happy New Year!

Mimi at her new little kitchen, chopping vegetables--It came with food that attaches by Velcro, and a knife. She chops them, puts them together and chops them again.
"Rock and Roll"
We were trying to get Superman to do this, Mimi caught on and did it herself.
_____
Random funny thing Superman said this week.
"Sorry, Superman, we're making fun of you."
"You can't make me so funny!"
_____

Superman kept falling, and it is SOOO cold. Between his chilled fingers from his lack of gloves (that he didn't want to wear) and the awkward wrist guards, he had trouble getting up--"Lift me up so I can see better."
