Duet

The only thing on Superman's wish list this year, that I didn't get for him, was a guitar, just like his Dad's. Somehow my brother and his wife knew this from 2000 miles away and got it for him. Here he plays with Greg while Mimi dances. See her little twist?

Today I went to the dump and got rid of a CAR LOAD of recycling, good will donations and garbage. A CAR LOAD! Then I came home and found another pile of boxes waiting to recycled. Why is there SO much waist at this time of year? I guess its because its so cold outside I have to stay inside and clean out the basement.

Superman Birthday Party!

"Can I lick it and see if it's delicious?"

Every year at Superman's birthday I think: "It's OK that Superman is one year older, but at least he's not 5--that's old." But now it's happened, he's 5 and loves it.

At the Superman party we decorated capes, flew paper airplanes decorated with Superman stickers, ate Superman cookies, played "Capture the Bad Guy", "Pin the 'S' on the Cape", and ran an obstacle course where they rescued stuffed animals from Lex Luther. It was so great.

Snowy

We went sledding 5 times this week. I'm so glad we have a yard with a pretty good slope, so I don't have to drive anywhere. It makes me think of sledding in my neighbor's yard in NJ.
These guys are so cheesy. The totally posed for this picture.
Mimi really wanted to wear this instead of a real hat.

Christmas Party

Superman is front and center for Jiggle Bells. 3 feet in front of the other children. He does NOT take after me in that way.
Mimi is in the middle, (if you click on the picture, you will get a close up and you will see her in the BACK, not the front) the lighting is terrible. She also loved being on stage. Our ward did the nativity with ALL 30+ nursery children. It was adorable. Mimi was among the very youngest, dressed as angels. I could never have imagined how cute this would be, so I never would have thought of doing this. I was recently released as the Primary President, our current one and nursery leader are much more creative.
The kids with Santa. She liked him much better this year. See that kiss? Here is last year's picture as a reference. Mimi calls Santa "noman" (snowman), Superman used to call him "the gentleman". I kind-of don't feel like correcting them, it's so cute. How unfair is it that they grow so fast?

Happy Birthday, Brother!

Thanksgiving is over...

I was hurrying to get Superman from school, I ran out of the house, rushed to the car, put Mimi in and then quickly sprinted to my side of the car and started to climb in. Just at that point I heard a noise I've never heard before--a gobble--a real one, not the fake one I've said since pre-school. I turned to see where the noise was coming from, there was a rafter of wild turkeys. I stood there in shock. The men working on the house across the street (also standing in shock) asked me if this happens often, I somehow was able to say "never". I was frozen, I'm such a city-girl, (even though I grew up with deer in my back yard in NJ) I had been on that side of the car, and just 10 feet from those crazy birds. This blog post popped in my mind and the need to share this bizarre New England moment overcame my fear of being pecked and being late to pick up Superman. I somehow got the camera.

This picture is a little blurry, but it shows how tall a turkey can be. If Mimi was standing next to them, I'm pretty sure he would be taller.

This was a post by Val, even though it says it was a post by Greg, he is not a city girl:)

Thankful Things

Superman likes any kind of glasses. He wore these 3-D glasses ALL day, to EVERY store! The bank, the bookstore, the post office, etc. Most people took a close look and some people asked if he was going skiing, yeah, I didn't get that one either.
Mimi loves putting stuff on her head-food, wallets, hats, and balloons. I have been practicing balloon sculpture for the upcoming birthday parties, and this was my first attempt at a hat. Mimi wore it most of the afternoon.
But there is nothing my kids like more then wrestling.

For Thanksgiving I was thankful for visitors. I didn't get a picture of the food, but one of my favorite things is a brined turkey that I didn't have to touch from it's raw-fresh-organic state, until it was cooked, carved, and on my plate! Yum!
