This Week

Mimi made fake snow.  (Conditioner and baking soda)

Yoda played a little basket ball--it is IMPOSSIBLE to get a good action shot!  Greg is one of the coaches.

Parker went to his first youth dance at church.   He's was super excited.

(when one of our children is being cranky we will sometimes call them "crank-master")

Parker:"Can I have this?"
Me:"Only if I can call you crank-master."
Parker (who knows the difference between a master and an apprentice):"I'm not a crank-master, I'm a crank-apprentice!"

A cupcake poem for Sonya's birthday

Eight little cupcakes, sitting in a tin
along came Yoda and then there were sev-en!

Seven little cupcakes, not from a mix
along came Mimi and then there were six!

Six little cupcakes, with honey from a hive
along came Parker and then there were five!

Five little cupcakes, not on the floor
along came Sonya and then there were four!

Four little cupcakes, decorated like bee
along came Josh and then there were three!

Three little cupcakes, on a plate of blue
along came Rebekah and then there were two!

Two little cupcakes -- not a ton
along came Jill and then there was one!

One little cupcake, waiting for a hero
along came Daddy and then there were zero!

Happy birthday!

And a little cupcake dance as well!  This girl loves her some cupcakes!
(Sorry for the squeaky camera...)

Tearing it up

We've been saving up since we bought the house to put in new flooring on the first floor.  The old vinyl was old and torn in places.  I'm glad we waited and redid the kitchen first, I like the layout so much better now.  Wouldn't it have been terrible to redo the floors, just to redo them again when we redid the cabinets and counter-tops?  There is value in procrastination!

I'm taking a little break today from ripping out the old stuff, to post these videos.  The first is to show (almost) how much floor we have to replace.

The second is to show my favorite part of the whole process.  I've been listening to fun music to keep we going, occasionally Mimi joins me and dances.  And here's Mimi dancing to one of her favorite songs, with Yoda trying desperately to get her to come and play with him.

Eventually Yoda came around and started dancing once David Bowie was on the radio.

And here's a picture of some of what I've been up to.  You don't always have to pull up vinyl flooring if all you want is new vinyl flooring, but in our case we did.  Since moving the cabinets left a large hole in the vinyl, the only solution was either rip up everything, or put a thin layer of plywood down and then the new vinyl.  And since that would mean our floors would be about a 1/2 inch taller and a bunch more money, I opted for this option.  Wish me luck!

UPDATE:
the bottles are two games.  One makes a tornado in the water and the other is a fountain.  Neither has anything to do with the floor.  Yoda just decided to put them right in the middle of the camera shot before he went down in the basement.

The Screaming Gina's

She's known as Mimi on our blog, but we don't actually call her that. Somehow her nickname over time has become Gina. Greg wants to form a band someday and call it The Screaming Gina's. Here's a little preview.

Yellow Submarine

Indiana, writing in his journal about Jill's wedding:"I got everybody grooving"

The D.J. asked the kiddos for a request. I think he was a little surprised that Indiana picked the Beatles. The kiddos were so happy!

My hero

Me:"Would you please get some milk out of fridge for Mimi?"
Indiana:"And now for another exciting adventure of *du-du-du-da!* 'Saving Baby!'"

Indiana, while shopping for a new lamp for his room:"Oh, a dance globe!"

Continent Song

One very good thing about our move is Indiana's school, we are so pleased. We found him singing this song today that he learned at school and Mimi was dancing along.

I don't know if he got the words or the tune right to the song, he did get the continents right. "North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa. Don't forget Australia, don't forget Antarctica *OUH!*" (Mimi stepped on his foot with her church shoes--she didn't even notice.) "There are 7 continents."

Dance Dance Dance

She was loving the 80's pop songs that they play at Chuck.
Sorry for the dark picture, it's a combination of my camera and the bad lighting at the place.

Trick Or Treat

This is what Superman says at the door: "I'm Superman, this is my sister, she's a ladybug" He then says "Trick or Treat" and then "Thank you".
Mimi says "Ween!" for Happy Halloween and "De Du" for Thank you.

We trick-or-treated with two boys from our street, it was really fun, but even funnier was how many grown-ups came along-2 for every kid! I'll put more pictures up later.
Superman didn't want a whole suit, just jeans and a t-shirt (just like me). And I didn't want him to wear red underpants on the outside:) Good thing it was a warmish night or he would have had to wear a coat and then if all you saw were his pant legs, you would have NO idea what he was.
Mimi getting down to the Halloween music. Can you see her tiny antenna?

Dancing

Tonight, Superman and Greg were wrestling, apparently Greg was a little to rough because Superman said, "I'm NOT your basketball. Look, I'm just a boy!"
Dancing in the kitchen to some rock and roll. The video is dark, so turn up the brightness on your monitor and use your imagination. BTW they are listening to John Mayer. If you can see it, Mimi frowns the end because she sees the refrigerator and remembers that she would like to drink milk--all the time!
