Matching
Parker is a senior, Mimi is a freshman and they are both in theater. For theater they get t-shirts and this day they were eating breakfast, totally unaware that they were both wearing the same theater shirt!

Mimi's Masterpiece Re-creatinon
For a young woman's-zoom activity, someone came up with this fun idea. Mimi has seen a painted re-creation of Picasso's Ironing Woman every day of her life, so it came to her mind when the assignment was given.

a look back
While looking through photos we found this one, it's Parker and his aunt doing a "T" pose back in '06 or so.
Oh, those serious faces!!
Coming next week, parade photos!

Classroom Behavior and School Pictures
As I was updating the school pictures I noticed something familiar. Parker decided that he liked this shirt so much he wore it again, 2 years later! 5th grade and 7th grade.
Yoda considered wearing his same shirt from his 2 years of preschool photos, but changed his mind. Here's the link to the post where I talked about that.
Mimi went with her brand new dress that Grandma Shauna made.
**************
Now that Yoda is in Kindergarten I have more time to volunteer in the classroom! Here's what I heard on my first day:
Teacher, "Who can tell me what day is today?"
She points to a child with her hand raised.
That child stares blankly.
Yoda whispers, "Friday"
Child, "Friday"
Teacher, "If today is Friday who can tell me what yesterday was?"
She points to a child with his hand raised.
That child stares blankly.
Yoda whispers, "Thursday"
Child, "Thursday"
This went on...little stinker!
3 years of preschool has it's results, lots of calendar knowledge and no patience for those who don't know the calendar. I have since explained that he must let others try to answer...

Foodie and Photobomb
Occasionally Yoda sits at the table like this...
and this comes to mind...
While taking this Charlie-Brown-type photo, Mimi decided to jump in.
Then Yoda jumped in the photo I was trying to take of her and her new boots.

++++++++++++
Also, we went to a place I've been meaning to go for a LONG while. It's a diner that has all sorts of doughnuts and stuff. Parker got the burger and I got the breakfast sandwich, both have a doughnut instead of a bun. It read "basically it's the best thing ever" and it was. Calories smalories...

3 Year Old Photos

Here's Mimi at 3...
and Parker at 3...
and Yoda at today at 3. He wanted to look just like Parker...
(sorry for the food on his face!)

Rainy Day
We were inside ALL day!
When I got the camera out to take pictures of how cute Yoda was, I saw what Mimi and Parker were doing and I realized things haven't really changed over the years...
And here's Yoda today filling up a similar vintage toy barn with vehicles. He often uses that same toy house that Parker used, just today it was the barn. The only real difference is Yoda prefers parking trucks and Parker always preferred trains.
When I think of Parker this is honestly the first image that comes to mind. Him laying on the ground, on his left side, rolling trains or cars. He hasn't done this in years, but today was boring enough I guess. I flashed back to him doing this for HOURS at a time when he was little. I thought for sure I had snapped a few photos of him as a toddler doing this, but no! Bad mommy!
When I put up Monday's post I neglected to mention how silly it was that Yoda is running out of the shot. Parker was getting slightly annoyed at this. We had to remind him that he did the EXACT same thing in the Easter picture when he was 2, here's a sample:
First, Easter 2005 Parker trying to get away...
And Easter 2008, Mimi (also age 2) not very happy about this photo either. (Ugh, red eye...)

Baby
Parker:"Who do I look like?"
Me and Greg:"Yourself"
Parker:"Someone at school said I looked like that Justin What's-his-name when my hair is like this."
Mimi has discovered the joy of spinning in circles until she is so dizzy that she has to lay down. It's quite fun to watch.
After Yoda and I say goodbye to Mimi and the school bus we sit on the porch swing and enjoy the nice weather. Here he says he would like me to sit next to him:"Next to you!"

Yoda's Haircut
I've tried to keep his hair trimmed, but he fights too much. So it was time for a real cut and we headed to the 'hair-cut-store'. Mimi decided to wear her shirt that matches Yoda's, so she was in the BEFORE shot (also pictured is Finn McMissile from Cars2).
I thought he would fight it, but he was much more cooperative for a stranger. Or course the video helped, but I also tried the exact same video at home and it never worked for me.
Here the stylist was telling me this is the only sad part of her job, cutting off baby locks.
AFTER
She kept some of the length and I love it.
Here he is on a normal day. He's saying CHEESE.
And just to keep it fun, here's Parker at 2 years, 2 months, just like Yoda is right now. I kept his hair trimmed much more, and didn't go to a 'hair-cut-store' until he was like 5 or 6 years old = he didn't fight a hair cut.
And here's Mimi at the same age too. I kept her hair trimmed too, only just in the back. In this photo she's also saying CHEESE! Isn't it crazy how different their hair is?

Duet
The only thing on Superman's wish list this year, that I didn't get for him, was a guitar, just like his Dad's. Somehow my brother and his wife knew this from 2000 miles away and got it for him. Here he plays with Greg while Mimi dances. See her little twist?Today I went to the dump and got rid of a CAR LOAD of recycling, good will donations and garbage. A CAR LOAD! Then I came home and found another pile of boxes waiting to recycled. Why is there SO much waist at this time of year? I guess its because its so cold outside I have to stay inside and clean out the basement.

Luke

For a while now I've been trying to take a picture of Mimi with her current hair style that looks a lot like Luke Skywalker's. I think I got it finally.
Superman is into really predictable games of hide and seek. In fact, he tells the seeker where to find him, hides in the same spot nearly every time and sometimes tells the hider where to hide.Tomorrow is Superman's first day of school (sort-of, he missed the real first day due to sickness). I will take a picture and post that soon.
