For Mimi's first Young Women's in Excellence she made a poster and explained a little about jujitsu. She also demonstrated how to escape if someone is grabbing your arm. Go against their thumbs! Greg was holding on TIGHT and she was able to break his grip, even when he held with 2 hands.

A few moments...
Wiggling his ears for the talent portion of the ward camp out.
Mimi went to a scrimmage jujitsu tournament, she learned a lot but lost all 5 matches.
Parker has always enjoyed playing with his shadow, he found a friend who also enjoys it. Here they are in the T-pose.

Mimi's new belt
Mimi started Brazilian Jujitsu about a year ago. She went slowly at first, but in the Fall decided to go way more often. She made it to her first belt advancement this weekend!

A few more things off the list...
#25 Another Day Camp (as opposed to a Scout Day Camp which they will do later in the summer). Parker used to do Jujitsu all the time when he was 5, but he hasn't gone if quite some time. This time Mimi went along and they loved it!
#15 COSI, we went with cousins!
#30 Knight's Ice Cream, it's seasonal so it's fun to watch when it will open in the spring.
#55 Pick fruit, maybe we'll do peaches later in the summer...
Of course a stop at Velvet's ice cream factory :)

The best part of 1st grade
Indiana's reading like a pro and loves reading to Mimi. When he started this year I had small panic attacks thinking about my boy being gone all day, but he's learning so much it's shocking at times. 1st grade has had a few bumps along the road so far, including the loss of a lunch box, miss communications with his teacher, and some kid attacking Indiana during recess a few different times and then Indiana getting him into mount. (btw, that video was of the first time Indiana ever got anyone in mount at jujitsu and he probably shouldn't have cheered like that.)____________
Me:"would you like some water?"Indiana:"Yes, please"
Mimi, talking like a dog:"ruff, ruff"
Indiana:"she wants her water in a bowl"
The straws were my idea, she was just wasn't getting much water in her mouth, mostly all over the fort.

More Jujitsu
I just love the reaction to his victory.

Later that same day.
Indiana to the other boy:"Oh, no you don't"
Other boy:"Yeah, I did."
Thanks for taking the movie, mom.

The beginings of Sibling Rivalry
Greg:"Do you want to kick and punch or roll and wrestle?"
Superman:"Roll and wrestle"
So Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu it is. He went for his first class last Thursday and LOVED it. As most of you know SM isn't much of a talker, but when he came home that night he couldn't stop talking about it. "Mom, this was my favorite part..." and went on and on, and showed off all his new moves.
Then on Saturday while Greg and SM were practicing, suddenly SM did a move (an arm bar) that he saw but was not taught or practiced during his class! Greg seriously had a tear in his eye, he's so happy--or maybe his arm hurt. It's been 14 years since Greg's won his second state wrestling championship, but wrestling is on his mind all the time.

Frustrated with all the wrestling on the ground Mimi demanded of Greg: "be tall, be tall!"

I was really surprised at this display of sibling rivalry--
Greg and I were surrounding Superman and admiring his first loose tooth, then Mimi came up to us and before jumping into SM's place said: "look at me, I a cute baby!"...
Check out SM throw Greg to the ground.
Superman:"How was that, mom?"
