Yoda's Birthday

This week I'm exhausted and I think I figured out why...

On Thursday we had Yoda's 4th birthday party...

I bought a cake!?!?  A mommy first for me and I don't even feel guilty.  Yoda saw this cake at Costco and said,"I changed my mind, I want to buy a cake."
The cake was so giant, we only ate half of it!  The rest is hidden away for after the holidays.

On Friday I hosted Mimi's Girl Scout troop...12 sugar-ed up 8-year-olds!

On Saturday we hosted Yoda's first "friend-party"

I did bake cupcakes for this one :)

But in addition to that I had normal Girl Scout meeting, Mimi had 2 birthday parties to attend so we ran her around for that.  That's not even counting all the normal stuff that happens, oh yeah!  and there's Christmas planning and activities to attend as well!  AHHH! 

I also went to Yoda's end-of-the-year party.  He's so sassy!

Sledding Hill

After the giant snow storm, we went sledding.  It was fun.  The kids enjoyed wearing themselves out.

A month ago Greg had a birthday, here's a few things that happened...

 It was warm enough for a barbeque...

 he loves gummy anything, so we made him a gummy worm-dirt-cake...

 I arranged all the Boy scout awards that his mom saved up and put them in a shadow box...

Parker's Cub Scouts comes to a close

After 3 years, Parker has done a TON of work.  

 This was in September....

The last requirement before he earned his Webelos badge was to lead the pledge of allegiance.

  

Then in October, he started working off the last bits of the requirements for the Arrow of Light badge.  

 But he also earned the religious knot and 3 more activity badges for a total of 16! 

 Then it was time for the arrow of light ceremony.  This is was special for him!  He's been looking forward to this since he started Cubs. 

 

Flight

On our way to Denver to my sister's wedding reception this is some of the funny stuff that was said...
 

Parker, "Mom, has Mimi been on an air plane?"
Me, "Yes, when she was like 1.5 years old."
Mimi, "So I DO don't remember!"

At the airport Yoda yelled, "I want SODA!"
Me, "Do you have $2 for a soda?"
Yoda, "Well, Dad has money!"

Trying to waste some time in the terminal...
Yoda, "Let's race!"
Me, "No, I don't want to bump into anyone."
Yoda, "We can just say 'sorry'."

Mimi -- feeling a little tired on the plane-- "Can people sleep on planes?"
Me, "Yes, would you like to sleep?"
Mimi tries to stretch out and finds it impossible to get comfortable, "HOW!?"

Out of nowhere, Mimi looks out the window and then to me and asks, "Would we die?"
She wanted to know if we would die if we were outside of the plane at that level.  What a crazy question.

Again out of nowhere Mimi looks out the window and then to me and asks, "How do planes fly?"  I did my best to answer her question, then the scientist guy sitting next to me laughed when she looked at me blankly. 

Sometimes we hear things wrong...

Me (to Greg),"give me a high fiver"
Parker,"a high fiber?"

Me,"Look at that BIG hawk!"
Parker,"A peacock?"

We saw a spider like this on the walk home from school...it was HUGE! 




Me,"Don't touch it, what if it's poisonous?"
Parker,"We won't eat it."
Me,"Well don't fool with it because it could bite you."
Parker,"That's venomous"
Me, "smarty-pants, keep walking..."

Happy Halloween

Last week we had to divide and conquer.  The boys went to the church Trunk-or-Treat while the girls went to the Girl Scout Halloween Haunt.

Me = Bottle of Ketchup (again, I know)

Greg = Rainbow Loom (Have you heard of these things?  They are the new trendy thing.  Think Silly Bands, Beanie Babies, or Cabbage Patch Kid)

Mimi Reads

Mimi didn't take to reading super quick in Kindergarten like we expected.  Then 1st grade came along and took all her enthusiasm away for school.  2nd grade has been MUCH better. 

Here she is reading Frog and Toad to Greg on Saturday morning.  They read so long Greg fell sound asleep.  I guess she liked that book better then Parker did a few years ago (as seen in this post). 

Yoda's Logic

Yoda,"I not cold, I just freezing"

After talking to my own dad on the phone, Yoda was a little confused,"No!  My dad is dad!"

Grandad,"Do you want to ride in my truck?
Yoda,"No, it's too heavy."

Yoda, after falling off his bike into the wet grass and getting a little damp.  A little later he was a little drier,"MOM!  Look!  I clean and shiny!  I shiny and new!"

Surprised....

Greg let his beard grow for a while, then he cut it off, then he let it grow back, which made Yoda very surprised "It's coming back!"

As we drove past CARMAX, Parker wanted to know more: "Is that like a store that saves cars?"

Last bits of summer

The kiddos participated in the Summer Reading Program at the local library.

 There were coloring pages....

and free cookies...

and free ice cream cones...

and pizza coupons.

And now I've misplaced the rest of the coupons, so we may not do anything else -- oops!

Cub Scout Dance Party

Sometimes when Valerie and Parker go to cub scouts, we have a dance party.

Mimi on Marriage

We went to Denver this weekend for Valerie's sister's wedding reception.  Congratulations Tina.

Mimi told us three preferences on finding a husband.

1. I will check to see if he is nice.
2. Make sure he doesn't do tricks. You know like pull the chair out when you are going to sit down.
3. And he should be funny.

"If he's not funny and is the other two.  That's ok."

Family Reunion

Greg's family got together for a fun family reunion last month!  It was a very fun and busy weekend.  I haven't been able to make a blog post worthy of how much fun it was, but summer is over, so I thought I better get something up here!  Here are some highlights...

 Baseball game...

 The most unique day was a trip out in the country.  We rode in a big party bus all together! 

 Then we went to a very awesome picnic spot, some of the kiddos went by horse and buggy! 

 We ate next to a very scenic covered bridge

 

We played in the river a little. 

 And went out to eat.
