Florida last day

On our last day in Florida we headed to Legoland.  It's a very cool place that deserves either 2 short days or at least one longer day, but during the Spring they close by 6pm, so we missed a few things.  The only thing we HAD to be sure to do was have the kiddos drive little Lego-cars, so we did that first thing!

Parker and Mimi signed up for programing classes, that was an unexpected, awesome thing.
They also spent almost an hour building and racing Lego cars.

There are tons of these amazing dioramas of cities or Star Wars scenes, we could have spent a long time looking at them, but we only had like 20 minutes!

Who has 2 thumbs and is ready for this vacation to be over?  This guy...

LegoLand is where the Cypress Gardens used to be.  You could spend hours wondering through here!  It was breathtaking!

In the morning we got up, packed the car and drove the 15 hours home.  Then I realized I forgot my wallet at the condo and we had to drive back!  Fortunately we are only 20 minutes away when I realized that...

If you are curious here is my biggest tips for going to Orlando:
-Go on low crowd days, there are whole websites dedicated to crowd calendars
-Most parks have apps that tell you wait times for rides, very useful!
-We did all the normal rides then set aside one day just for the wet rides
-Arrive 30 minutes before the parks open, for sure
-Some like staying on property, but we were told about an inexpensive condo just 1 mile from the parks.  It was so nice to save the $$ so we could spend it other places.

First Day / Last Day 2014-2015

Oh boy, there were big changes in the Gibby house this school year!  Both Yoda and Parker passed a milestone of sorts, and possibly Greg, too, so we celebrated with our trip to Florida.  One more day to post about, but first the school photos!

Parker First day 2014

Parker last day 2015.  The school has a "clap-out", it's a low-key and fun way to celebrate the end of elementary school.

The 6th graders play at the rec center and have a pizza lunch.  Then the whole school lines the hall and claps as the 6th graders walk out the door for the last time.  After organizing said pizza lunch, I was almost too tired to tear up.

Florida: Day Four and Five

A few years ago:
Val's friend, "every parent has to take their child to Disney"
Me, "no"

****
A few weeks ago:
Greg's friend, "you're going to Disney?  That doesn't seem like a place you would go."
Greg, "you're right, it's weird"

***

Once we started planning our trip to Harry Potter World and Legoland, Greg mentioned that he'd like to see Star Tours again after seeing it as a kid.  I was a little surprised, but started making plans....

We started at Disney Hollywood Studios

 Pizza Planet!

 Giant Lincoln Logs!
 Acting like Monkeys
 Oh yeah! Jedi Academy!
I'll admit I was nervous that somehow our kiddos would be the ones to mess up the whole thing, but they did great!

First they learned all the light saber moves...

And then Darth Vadar showed up!  Scaring as ever!
But they were ready and took him on one by one...

Yoda and Mimi decided on small droids as their souvenirs.

Mimi rockn' out...

Magic Kingdom Day

one day Yoda got sunblock in his eyes and needed to go to the first aid station.  Another day Parker slashed his leg on a rock and needed band-aids.  This time I was nervous we were loosing Mimi for good.  We found this spot in the shade and cooled off and drank lots of water.  If you see below she did recover!

Tomorrowland Raceway

You can't see what this card reads, but it says something about us having a "Magic Moment".  Yoda came off of Space Mountain screaming about how much fun he had, so the lady gave us this card for a chance to get right back on!
Another thing from Greg's youth that he wanted to do again was this shooting gallery.

Obligatory Castle photo!  can you spot the Gibbys?

One more day...
