Easter/Anniversary

Greg:"What nice Easter clothes!" Looking to me as if I bought them or something.
Me:"All these are from aunt Sonya"
Greg:"ALL the clothes?!"

I didn't take pictures of the ham, the guests, or the family, but I did take a shot of this beauty.

Dozen down
Dozens to go
-To me from Greg on our 12th anniversary

These chocolates looked so good it was tough to eat them.  One of our favorite cupcake shops now sells super cool chocolates--just another reason not to diet.

Pinewood Derby

Putting on the finishing touches.  Parker worked on every step of the car.

Just before the race.  We didn't really know what to expect.  We hoped he would end up somewhere in the middle.

Mimi watching from the sideline.

I've been the den leader for the past year.  I started with 3 scouts, now I have 10, and by the end of May I'll have 13!  There's a whole lotta 8-year-old in each of these scouts.

2nd Place!

Mimi and the weather

During one of the many rainy days this week,
Mimi:"It's...raining-it's-pouring-the-old-man-is-snoring out here!"
 __________

Mimi, stepping into the hot car on a rare warm day:"Whoa!  This is up to hot!"
__________
Mimi-wearing a nightgown for most of Saturday:"Have you noticed that I haven't had a single bit of pants?"

The Screaming Gina's

She's known as Mimi on our blog, but we don't actually call her that. Somehow her nickname over time has become Gina. Greg wants to form a band someday and call it The Screaming Gina's. Here's a little preview.

Lately

Grandma Eunice came for a visit!
__________
Parker:"I want to be in the middle of the cuddle!  Put that on the blog!"
__________

We headed to the science museum over Spring Break and in this area there is a blue screen and a camera with all sorts of controls for the kiddos to play with.  You can add a background and funny effects.
Here Parker is being run over by a train...somehow Yoda survived...
Here Yoda is trying to get through the Plexiglas to get to me.  He was so unhappy.

Poetry Month

Parker has trouble expressing himself.  But occasionally he comes up with some beauties.  Here's a poem from Kindergarten that I will NEVER throw away.

Scoot

I left the room and came back to this, Mimi had dragged Baby Yoda's chair the 2 or 3 feet from the kitchen table to the breakfast bar, so he would be closer to her...

Mimi:"Baby Yoda wanted us to be buddies."

To be honest, this picture and quote are old--check out the SNOW out the window--today the temp reached 80-something!
__________

Here's Parker at the Blue and Gold Banquet in Feb.  The Pack leader asked this cool guy from church to come and play his electric guitar.  And the cool guy asked the scouts to come up and play air guitar.  Parker was shocked that such a cool thing was happening to him, he didn't even move at first.  I told him he better go up there and show everyone how it's done--he RAN!  Even Mimi was part of the action.

Syncing the Day

I dropped Parker off at school. While we where in line he asked-
When do you eat lunch at work?
Me- About 1:30
Parker- You should ask your boss if you could you eat at 11:30 so we can eat at the same time.

Baby C reading in the awesome chair.

Donkey Kong

Mimi:"Is Donkey Kong a donkey?"
Parker:"He's a monkey!"
Mimi:"What kind of monkey? A kong monkey? A monkey with no tail?"
__________

March has been a month like I never want to see again. Does March seem long because February is short? I don't know. One of the ridiculous things that happened this month is that our dryer started not working as well. It's pretty new, so I wasn't ready for it to break yet. Greg and I did some investigation and we found out the problem. Someone vented the dryer to the attic. Yes, the attic. Quality home building for sure. Anyway, we spent some time trying to figure out what to do about it. And I finally cooked up a crazy plan and Greg helped put it into action.
Here's some pictures of our work. Notice Mimi wearing: pj's, snow boots, coat and tutu.
Greg drilled a hole through the exterior of the house to get the vent through the garage and into our laundry room. The kiddos thought this was hilarious! This was the most expensive part of the whole thing. The one drill bit we needed was $35! Anyone need a 4-inch hole-drill?
Our garage-- a total mess for a few weeks while we worked on the project.
Our laundry room -- a big mess while we works are other parts of it. Notice the thing sticking out of the ceiling? That's the vent. It went up there then took many turns into the attic above our garage. Then it just spit out moisture and lint all over the place. ugh. The vent was full of lint as well. It's a wonder our dryer worked at all for the last 2 years. All I can say is, clothes take NO time at all now that it's all clear.
In the middle of all this Mimi got really sick, of course. That lead to lots of laundry, another fun part of this month.
Here was my dryer for most of this month. Honestly, I like using the drying rack. I feel good about it most of the time. Most weeks a use it for at least one of my loads of laundry anyway. But I do like having the option of having a working dryer.

The good news is we have a fulling functioning dryer and lower electricity bill for the month . You can all rest assured:)

Teeth

Mimi (telling daddy about how the dentist told her that some of her teeth are coming loose):" Some are dropping out of my mouth!"
__________

*someone's stomach growls*
Me:"Is that your stomach growling?"
Parker:"It's begging."
__________

Here's Mimi with one of the awesome Dinosaur gifts she got for her birthday. It's a block of plaster with plastic-dinosaur-bones embedded in it, and she has to chisel them out. Every now and then she makes a "discovery", which makes her shake her head and remove her goggles to take a closer look. It cracks me up.

Getting to garden

There is so much sadness in the world, anyone else getting super depressed with all the news? It may seem small and silly, but I'm so glad that I get to do some gardening starting THIS WEEK! (March 17th means more then just St. Patrick's Day, it means getting your peas and lettuce in the ground.) Getting my hands in the dirt lifts my spirits. Even though I have no idea what I'm really doing... and last year's garden was a bust... this year I'm optimistic... and I have a new hat to keep the sun out of my eyes. If I can just get it away from Baby Yoda. Of course I got it on etsy.com. Love that place.

Learning

*earlier*

Parker--after seeing beer commercials or something like that during a ball game:"What's alcohol?"
Me, unsure what to say:"well, it's something that people drink, sometimes it makes you forget things you don't want to think about."

*some days later*

Mimi:"Is there alcohol?"
Parker:"yes, remember it makes people forget stuff."
Mimi:"I think Mom drinks it"
Me:"What?"
Mimi:"But you forget things!"
__________

Mimi looking at the dry skin on her hands:"They're always so scrape-y"
