Parker Turns 10!

It's crazy but true--Parker is now two digits!  No one is more surprised then me.  He's still just as silly as ever in his old age :)

He wanted a Sonic Party, so I found some ideas on the internet.

This is his Halloween costume, just to refresh your memory...

The "photo booth" was a success.

In the video game Sonic collects gold rings (power rings), so that shows up a bunch in my party planning.  I bought Funyuns because they looked like gold rings.  Also, we cut up carrot sticks to look like another character's tail.

Sonic lives on a planet called Mobius, so we had "Mobius Water"

 Power ring cupcakes.

The guests popped balloons and collected more Power Rings that were hidden inside.
Of course Greg set up an obstacle course in the basement, another big success.

And that was it.  A good party for a good 10-year-old!

But all that was before his actual birthday, so on his real birthday we celebrated too.
Doughnuts in the morning.  He also requested pancakes and bacon.
Since his birthday is so close to Christmas we had lots of family to celebrate with.
Grandma Shauna put the frosting on the cupcakes.

Aunt Jill and Uncle Chris made yummy spaghetti sauce with amazing meatballs and sausage.

Happy birthday Buddy!

It's Girl Scout Cookie Time!

And this is Mimi's first year selling.

Mimi:"I'll save you a little cookies so you can get some!"

While the scouts were talking about what to do with their cookie money, all the girls had dreams of Disney or the zoo.  Mimi said "we should give it to the poor"  That's my girl!

Leave a comment here or email me if you would like to order some cookies

(I won't post your comment if you leave personal information).

Enjoy!

wrapping up Christmas

Before it's gets too far away, how about a Christmas Post?!

Before the Dickerson's came to town we celebrated with the Gibbys.

More Christmas Cookies, please!

Parker had his 4th grade winter concert and it was awesome.

Yoda found lots of opportunities to chill with Grandad.

We even did a little sight seeing while we had our guests.

 Helping with the pies
 Little Drummer boy
 Christmas Eve Dinner.
Me, Greg, Sonya, Mom, Dad, Jill, Chris, Andrew, Tina, Mimi, Parker (and a little bit of) Yoda.
Parker wanted to re-tell the Christmas story, it was very sweet.
Mimi acted out the story with our wooden nativity
Tina dishing up the pies, yum!
 Christmas morning (a.k.a.tornado)

As per usual someone had to be sick, this time it was Parker.

Grandad got the kiddos a bow and a bunch of arrows.

Ticket to ride.  They played for HOURS!
Parker and my mom played Scrabble over the wifi on the tablets that were present during Christmas.

Hope you had a great holiday!

Crazy Push Ups

Greg mentioned that he could do this and he didn't think I was going to put it on the blog!  He'd already done a few by the time I got the camera and then Yoda got into the action...

recap of the crazy (with update)

This post is old, I took it down and now I'm posting it again :)

Lots of prep for my family coming to town--happy to do this, it was a busy time.

Lots of prep for Christmas--happy to do this, it was a busy time.

Christmas--very fun and very busy.

After Christmas, just chilling.

Saturday, me in bed all day.

Sunday, me in bed all day.  Greg does his responsibility at church, and mine and gave a talk in front of the whole congregation while Yoda yelled for him to come back.  A hero-dad saved the day by sitting with Yoda and playing cars.  I haven't slept/ate since Friday night.

I finally decide that I am sick enough for a strep test. I am stunned when the doctor tells me that the test is negative.  And that the flu or cold I have, I will have for the next few days.  And then it will go into my lungs and I'll have a cough for a while.  I repeat that I have strep and that she should take another test.  She looks in my throat and says, "um, yup that looks like strep".  But she still doesn't send me home with antibiotics.  I freak out and cry and make Greg call our primary care doctor who happily gets me antibiotics because she knows that I know when it's strep.  I love our doctor -- she's our whole family's doctor.

Monday, Tuesday, a blur.  Greg's home for the New Year holiday and I don't remember anything happening except waiting for the antibiotics to work.  Greg also builds a bookshelf during this time with the new tools that he bought with his Christmas money.  He does it all, buys the woods, cuts with the saw, learns to and then uses the jig, all while being the dad all day long.  I still haven't had any sleep or food since Friday night

Wednesday morning, I'm still so sick.  Greg's going back to work and has arranged for the kiddos to go to his mom's (a.k.a Nana's) house for the day.  But before he leaves we page the doctor again to say that I've had almost no improvement since Sunday.  She happily sends a new prescription for stronger antibiotics over and I am better with in hours, literally.  But still so tired, no sleep or eating in days and I'm still a little shaky.  Later that night the urgent care calls to say that the culture strep test is, in fact, positive, and that I should come get my prescription.  I laugh into the phone.

Thursday morning the kiddos are back to school and Yoda's off to Nana's again.  Finally food and sleep.  Almost feeling like myself.  This is how I should have felt by Monday but it's Thursday.

I can't believe how sick I was, and now I'm better, it's nuts. Those bacteria were out to get me.

But the BEST part is that I'm feeling better just in time for our little trip to Detroit!  My friend is visiting from far away and this is my only chance to see her before she leaves.  Everyone's healthy, we get ready, reserve a hotel room, and start feeling like this could happen.

Friday, getting packed and ready.  Yoda has a little fever but no complaint about his throat, so I give him some Tylenol and cross my fingers.  We are 10 minutes away from the house and then Mimi starts throwing up in back seat.  We turn around and go home...

Here she is feeling a little better and all smiles.  No clue how much I was looking forward to this trip...
Yoda is feeling better too, just didn't want to smile for the camera.

So Saturday morning I just go to Detroit.  I don't usually do this, just take off by myself!  We had a blast!  Miss you guys!

Life continues to be crazy.

So another short post, that's a day and a half late.

Parker:"I don't know anything about Justin Bieber, except he plays drums and he's sweaty."

Lots of photos and stuff coming up.

Happy New Year!
