Saturday

As I say in the side part of this blog-- my life isn't even close to perfect, but this blog makes me look for the good times!

So after an especially tough (tough!) week, we had a picturesque Saturday that I was proud to be a part of...

Yoda is having fun with Soccer,
but still stops to play with his belly button often, so silly!  (he's right in the middle)

Mimi is learning a lot while playing field hockey.  (she's right in the middle with a white stick pulling up the red stick.)  On this day she said she worked harder then she's ever worked!
I think they put together almost every puzzle we own.
and we played a bunch of our games in the cupboard.
And a wonderful thing happened by surprise.

Months ago we noticed that a house on a busy street close by our house had been hit by a car.  (We later heard that this was true, the driver skipped the scene but left his car so he was found.)

Anyway, it seemed like it was taking a while for the house to get repairs--probably waiting for insurance money and contractors, etc.  Finally the house was complete but the yard was still a mess, a whole tree had to be taken down.  I drove past the house on Saturday and saw an older couple shoveling and working hard.  Although I'm sure they were able to take care of things, why not send my boy scout over to offer fresh energy?

Parker headed over there with Greg and helped to move some dirt so that the landscapers could come in and do their job.  Parker was rewarded with a little cash, which of course was not our intent, but it wasn't a bad surprise.  Either way, we all felt good!

Great Idea

With school starting, it's hard to remember that it's still sort-of summer.  One hot day I had the great idea to send the kiddos out to play in the sprinkler.  This happened all too soon.  Mimi loves that mud!

The house I grew up in

Get ready for an amazing house...
While playing around on the internet I sometimes look at real estate sites and the houses I'll never get to live in.  I saw that the house I grew up in recently sold and then my sisters tracked down the youtube video showing it in lots of details.

They flipped bathrooms and removed walls and doors and a closet.  The backyard looks like a dream, but it was wonderful to start with.  It's all amazing!  I loved what they did mostly, of course there's few things I would do differently or I would have kept the same way from when we were kids, but they didn't consult me, hee hee.  They made the basement so great and kept the bar intact, the claw-foot tub is still there, phew!  I'm so glad.

Ahh, what a beautiful house!

Classroom Behavior and School Pictures

As I was updating the school pictures I noticed something familiar.  Parker decided that he liked this shirt so much he wore it again, 2 years later!  5th grade and 7th grade.
Yoda considered wearing his same shirt from his 2 years of preschool photos, but changed his mind.  Here's the link to the post where I talked about that.

Mimi went with her brand new dress that Grandma Shauna made.

**************

Now that Yoda is in Kindergarten I have more time to volunteer in the classroom!  Here's what I heard on my first day:

Teacher, "Who can tell me what day is today?"
She points to a child with her hand raised.
That child stares blankly.
Yoda whispers, "Friday"
Child, "Friday"

Teacher, "If today is Friday who can tell me what yesterday was?"
She points to a child with his hand raised.
That child stares blankly.
Yoda whispers, "Thursday"
Child, "Thursday"

This went on...little stinker!

3 years of preschool has it's results, lots of calendar knowledge and no patience for those who don't know the calendar.  I have since explained that he must let others try to answer...

First day 2015

Yoda started Kindergarten, these are the photos I got before he ran most of the way to school

Mimi is our confident 4th grader

 Photo bomb...

Parker leaves way too early for me to take a photo. So we haven't taken his picture yet.

 Start of school BONUS:
140 pencils, that's how many I sharpened for all the kiddos to have at school.  That's almost a gross of pencils!  48 for Mimi, 80 for Parker, and 12 for Yoda.
