Pianos

Greg really likes to move pianos.  If a family is moving and they have a piano, he's all over it!
I wish I had been there to take a photo (although I would have been really nervous) the other day when he was part of the crew that moved a piano from a 3rd floor apartment, down to a truck and then up the stairs to a 2nd floor apartment.

Here he is in a photo from 199? after moving a piano.  They are taking a music break and to show off their muscles.  Thanks for Greg's Grandma for this awesome photo!

Volunteen

At the library the kiddos can volunteer to help other kiddos with their summer reading program.  It's called being a Volunteen.

They sign them up, give them their rewards when they finish reading a certain amount, stuff like that.

This year Mimi joined Parker who is doing this for his 4th summer.  He says he wants colleges to know he's a guy who volunteers his time.

When they aren't helping kids, they can sit and read.  Here they are...

Mimi's first year of Girl's Camp

Mimi was VERY excited for her first year of camp!

We had fun packing, she asked Parker if she could take his awesome camping stool from High Adventure.
She also asked if she could take my awesome hiking boots.  Clearly we have neglected to get her some of her own camping gear!
 Before...
 Drop off
Her bunk and ready to say goodbye.
At pick up... it was so fun to hear all the girls chat about their fun week.
And after, still smiling!

Roller Rink

We often go to this roller rink, p.t.a. nights, orchestra-end-of-the-year parties, and we get so many coupons for free admission.
While Greg's sisters were in town we headed over once again.  I rarely get a good photo, but this day I was able to capture a few good ones...

 High Five!

Girl Scout Day Camp

Mimi had her last year of day camp as a camper.  Next year (if all things work out as we plan) she will go back as a junior leader.  She'll help the younger scouts get around camp and learn all the fun stuff to do in the outdoors!

One fun thing about camp is picking your camp-name.  She played with this over the years and this year she landed on Ducky, it's perfect!  She adores rubber duckies, so it's playful.  But also, ducks are in nature, she's so clever!

My camp name is Watson in case you wanted to know :)

Here she is on the Quiddich obstacle course.  The theme this year was Wizarding School.
 Caller for flag ceremony.
She's on the right leading a silly song.
They were all yelling "Ducky, Ducky, Ducky!"  I came over and saw this.  She's in the middle somewhere.
Being all responsible and helping the younger campers.
 Perfecting her fire-building skills.

Parker has a job!

When he gets home, we ask him if he messed up anybody's orders.  So far so good!  And he comes home smelling like chicken nuggets :)

Spring Baseball

Yoda played a little baseball, here are some highlights...
Batman socks!  Get it?

"Two outs!"
Doing the Charleston in the catcher's gear as he left the field, silly kid!!

Between rain-outs and traveling he missed a few games, but he played enough to know he wants to do a more baseball in the future.

Cub Scout Day Camp

Yoda has been begging for Cub Scout Day Camp for YEARS!  This was his year.  So of course he got strep right in the middle of it.

Monday he started out strong, it was also the HOTTEST day of the week.

He was the popular kid with a cool battery-powered fan and a water mister.

But half-way through Tuesday he was fading.  No fever or sore throat, he just seemed overwhelmed by the heat.

But he stuck to it and tried to make it a great day.

This is when I dragged him to the nurse's station.  After some A/C and lots of Gatorade, he was ready to go again!

 Wednesday he hung in there...
With bursts of energy now and then.
Still no fever, loss of appetite, sore throat, nothing.
Then Thursday he spiked a fever and finally on Sunday his fever was so bad we took him to the urgent care.  After a day they called back and said he did, in fact, have strep.  Poor guy, though he only missed 1 and 1/2 of the days, and they were less exciting then the ones he attended.  Hopefully next year will be better!

While feeling lousing and thinking of himself as a character in a video game he said to me in a weak voice, "...my life points..."

High Adventure

Greg and Parker were off to their 2nd High Adventure....

Since they were such pros from last year, they just kinda copied all their old plans.
They checked their gear...

And bought a few on-the-way-home snacks, these ended up being SO appreciated.  Their last night and morning they left, the rain was NON-STOP.  The stream they needed to cross was now a river.  And they left camp before eating breakfast.  When they made it to the cars everyone was exhausted and hungry.  They devoured the pop-tarts.

 Ready to go!
On the trail.

 So much rain

Finally home about 6-8 hours later then expected!
