Bonk

Mostly lately Superman has been saying "Bonk" for everything.
"How was school?"
"Bonkish."
"Are you ready to dinner?"
"I'm ready for Bonker."
"AUGH!"

As I drove home from taking my mom and dad to the airport today, Mimi cried from the back seat: "I want to go GeeGawh and DaddyDad." (Grandma and Granddad)
Superman:"If you went with them you not be with our family, and we would miss you!"

As I update this blog, Superman gets frustrated, he doesn't want to see my type, he wants to see pictures:"Let's go to picture-land."

Busy Week

On the train to Boston.

Superman has done this before. This week was for a birthday party.

Slipping around Echo Bridge, Mimi kept yelling "woo, whipery".

Springfield Armory was really fun.
Mimi with her new lunch box. It has images of women from WWII. She played with it for a full hour and a half on the drive home.

Boston

On our trip to Boston we found the buildings where my dad used to work, and this YUM!
We also saw a huge line of people waiting to get into Faneuil Hall. My mind immediately thought they were waiting to audition for a reality show. I asked one of the camera crew, he said it was for a swearing in ceremony. How cool.

The Cape

I've heard about Cape Cod my whole life, it's always been a place I thought I would go. For some reason when I ask people where we should go to vacation or to spend the day, they change the subject. Why don't people want to tell me where a good place to stay is? They don't want to let the secret out? Well too bad, there are libraries with tour books, and now I'm telling anybody that will listen: we went to Sandwich, we left at about 1 pm on a beautiful Saturday in April . It was perfect. Zero traffic. The beach was free, the restaurant wasn't crowed, we had a front row seat at the glass blowing demonstration, and Superman even "helped" to make a pressed-glass sun-catcher.
Now the secret is out.
Only problem, the water was really cold.

hikes

Superman-at the beginning of the hike:"A hiker hikes in everything he needs."
(What did he carry? Water, lucky cap, binoculars, walking stick, bag for interesting leaves.
How long did he carry it all? Not long.
Who carried it all out? Me.)

Superman-at the end of the hike:"We are back where we started."
Me:"Yes, we are at trail head"
Superman:"What?"
Me:"This is the beginning of the trail, so people call it the head of the trail or the trail head."
Superman:"we went in the mouth."

Taxes

Update with pictures.

Greg ran the half marathon with his sister! Here he is at mile one.
My big news: I got my hair cut without having to get a babysitter.
Superman: "mom, did you get your hair cut-ted?"

A fun blog that my sister-in-law showed me:
http://bakerella.blogspot.com/

We did a bunch of stuff on our way to, and in Columbus, Oh: the zoo, the race, Greg played lots of guitar with this brother, we played lots of Wii and trains, we visited with old friends who have left Boston (we miss you SOOO much!), we even went to a major league soccer game--with 7 goals.

questions

Me: writing out an envelope to mail our rent.
Superman: "who is that a note for?"
Me:"I'm paying rent"
Superman:"Did you say Ryan?"--a friend in his class
Me:"No, rent, we have to pay someone to live here."
Superman:"then who's rent?"

Superman's nose must be stuffy, which made him sleep with his mouth open, which made his mouth dry, which is the reason for what followed:
"Hi--"
*Clear throat*
"Hi--"
*BIG Clear throat*
"Hi, Dad, I can't talk, my throat must be crooked"

Dad flipped Superman on his shoulder so he was upside down.
Superman:"I can see whole new worlds!"

Pillow Fight

We have never talked about pillow fights, but he learned it somewhere, and he wants to have one everyday.

Check out Mimi's Shiner, it's nothing like Superman's first one, but she cried more.

Here's Superman in 2005 with his black eye. Look at his blond hair!
I fear I've already lost him to the power of Math. But if anything would steal him away from me, I'm ok that it's something nerdy. I like nerds. Speaking of nerdy things, we were talking about chess, and Superman doesn't know it's real name, he just asked:"remember when I played the nerd game with you, dad?"

Happy Easter

Easter Egg Hunt at our neighbors.
The little kids hunted in the yard, Mimi insisted on two baskets. "Baby basket, Daddy basket." Not that Daddy held the basket, it was his in name only.

The big kids hunted in the woods. If you click on the picture you can see Superman and Greg a little better (thumbs up).

Some may recognize these same sweaters worn last Easter.

Oh, good it's Friday

I did it again, I took Superman to school when there is no school in session. There were clues, people saying, "Have a good weekend"on Thursday, the Friday class newsletter came out a day early, the fact that I know it is Good Friday, but I ignored it all. And I do believe I was the ONLY one, since there were no other cars pulling in, stalling for a moment and then pulling out.
Superman:"This is a good situation, I can play PBS kids on the computer and then eat my snack." I'm glad to see he sets up his lunch box the right way.

What is pictured below? Potatoes and gravy.

What did Mimi call it? Apples and soup.

Mimi: "mmm.... soupy"
