SLEEP

Saturday morning we woke up Superman early to take him to Basketball. He got up but then laid back down on his side.
Me:"If you're too sleepy, you can stay home"
SM quickly shot up:"My ear was tired"

Later he was rubbing his eyes:"I still have water in my eyes from dreams"

On the drive to basketball
SM:"I just saw a cow house"(barn)
Mimi:"what about the PIGGY?!"
Yummy idea: S'mores on the BBQ. We used a pizza pan, piled up the bottom half of the s'more and the let it warm for a minute or two, them mushed on the top half. I could eat these everyday!

Zoo

This week we went to the zoo.
We met up with my dear friends from college, who now live in NE, and their babies .
There was so much up-close-and-personal with the animals--in some places. They are doing a bunch of updates to make it even better. The elephants are in this cage right now, while they wait for their new habitat.

These harbor seals were very friendly. So was this kid next to Superman. Usually SM is the one that talks so much that the other kid get scared away. But this one almost scared SM away he talked so much. Look at that arm SM has around Mimi--so sweet.

This is comedy

At some point Mimi decided that her pj's are worn like this--
Footee pj's on the bottom, less warm pj's "on top!"
This morning, after Greg changed her diaper and didn't put the pants back on I hear Superman say:"How can such a good girl wear no pants?"

Funny story about this picture: I went to take the picture, but I accidentally turned the camera off in stead. These 3 weren't fazed, they froze with their smiles until I was ready to take the picture-- all 3 of the them. It's a well known fact that the Greg's family on his mother's side always know where the camera is, and are ready to pose at a moment's notice. Clearly they do not take after my side of the family who have photo albums full of people with their faces covered up by their hands, or are ripped out post-printing.

A new twist on an old cliche'

You know how when people give talks or speeches and they say "The dictionary defines service as..."
Well yesterday at church a young man actually said:"Dictionary. com says that service is..." It took us all (my sister was with us) a minute and then we busted up laughing.

cold still

The other day I took Mimi and Superman to Taco Bell--something we never do.
Superman:"I'm [Superman] and this is my baby sister [Mimi]"--what he says to almost EVERYONE!
Girl behind the counter--misheard:"Marie-that's my name too!"
SM:"What's that on your face?"
Marie:"an eye ring"
SM"oh"

Maybe it's because it was slow at the restaurant or maybe it's because Superman endeared himself to Marie, but she gave them each a free sample of a slushy. They were shaking from the unneeded A/C in the restaurant and the sudden cold of the slushy. I gave Mimi some quesadilla and said "eat this it's warm." She simply hugged it.
SM:"You can chew this just like gum"

Chess

Mimi--as I wrapped myself up with a blanket one chilly morning: "mom, tending be a baby?" [pretending to be a baby?]

Superman--after helping Greg put hot dogs on the grill, but they were all askew, so Greg then lined them up in rows: "why are you organizing the hot dogs?"

Just a few of the silly things that happened this birthday...

1-After Superman told his teacher that it was my birthday, the teacher played happy birthday to me on the piano, and the whole class stared at me.
2-My noisy (from 10 pm to 2 am) neighbors moved out.
3-Mimi ate the candle from my cake and handed me the wick.
4-I got a new camera...
So expect bigger, better pictures and movies with sound--as soon as I figure that out.

Creatures

Superman:"Do you know giant ants?"
Me:"Yes"
SM:"They are much older then small ants"

Me, (while picking up the sewing kit that Mimi has thrown around the room and singing the clean up song from Barney): "...everybody do your share..."

Super Hero

Superman:"Who is this?"
Me:"Boba Fett"-(From Star Wars)
SM:"He's a superhero"
M:"No, he's a bounty hunter"
SM:"But he has his hands are on his hips!"

In that same mind-frame:
The other day I set out the hot oatmeal to cool (think 3 little bears). To make it cool faster started blowing. Suddenly my hands were on my hips. Yeah, I looked like Superman, I'll spare you from a picture of the the event--I was in my pj's.

Happy Mother's Day

Superman is smiling, Greg is cooking, and Mimi's asleep, I'm happy.

Quiet

When my dad showed up at my sister's house his first words were, "do you have anything that needs to be done?" I don't know about her, but I planned ahead, I had a list of things for him to do once he came here. One was tying up a new rope on the tire swing. Here Mimi and Superman are trying to stop him from striking it from the list. I had a list for mom too, they both did real well--thanks guys!

We don't have cable and sometimes the picture comes in fuzzy.
The other day, I was in the other room and not only was the picture fuzzy, but the sound was too. Superman didn't know how to describe it to me, but here he is trying. See the confusion on their faces?

I'm sure you've noticed that Mimi's hair is short but getting longer. Tonight was rare, I took off her dinner-stained shirt and let her run to get her pj's. She was so distracted by her hair hitting her shoulders when she ran.
