Bridging

Mimi's Daisy Troop bridged to Brownies.
I borrowed a bridge from a friend and the girls had a blast!
Each girl read part of the Girl Scout promise

They each received a fax brownie sash, and matching daisy headbands just for fun.
It's been an awesome year!

First Day / Last Day 2012-2013

School's out and the summer has begun...

Yoda on his first day...

And on the last day, running to school because he's so excited!

After the last day, there was a picnic
and puddles.

Mimi on the first day of school

 Parker on the first day...

Mimi just after the first day...

Parker just after the first day...

And Mimi and Parker on the last day of school...

I helped out at Mimi's first-grade-last-day-party.  Or at least I tried to help.  Yoda was not very cooperative.  Mimi's teacher retired so I helped to put together a gift basket for him so I really wanted to be there to hand it to him.  Sadly I forgot to take a photo, but it was awesome.  There was a chocolate motorcycle involved...

Parker with a relieved smile, goodbye 4th grade.  I forgot to get a photo of Parker with his teacher... oops!

And here's a What Mimi wore to church bonus.  Recognize that purse, Sonya?

Mimi's insistance

Mimi often has an answer to questions that come along, sometimes even her own questions...

Mimi "How far is the moon?"
Mimi:"I think it's to the tip of the earth and then it's a giant away!"
__________

Mimi"Do you know what R.V. stands for?"
Mimi:"Robot Voice"
__________

Parker to Yoda:"I don't want you grow up!"
Mimi:"I don't think his body will say yes to that!"

Rain

As we started walking home, it started to rain, HARD!

Mimi:"This is the worst walking day!"
Me:"But at least it will be memorable."
Mimi:"I am NOT putting this in a scrapbook!"

*later*
we saw birds playing in a big puddle
Mimi:"That's one big pool party!"

Off to sleep

If you squint you can see the little green ears of his favorite bunny sticking out of his blanket...

When Yoda couldn't fall asleep last night I offered him a cup of water
Yoda:"No, I have water in me."
Me:"Do you want some milk?"
Yoda:"No, I just want myself."
 __________

Greg:"I have no understanding why I'm awake right now.".
__________

*One more**Updated, again*

The other night while putting Yoda down we talked about my sister having a baby and how we'll go out to visit them.
Yoda:"I'll give Jill's new baby my bunny.  And they give me the Cars helmet.  Then you can go to the bunny store and buy me a new bunny."

Or here is bunny playing trains with Yoda.  There's no way Yoda would let go of his best friend, but it was nice of him to offer :)

Rainbows and fixes

Yoda:"Mom, do you like rainbows?"
Me:"Um, yes, I guess so."
Yoda:"You like rainbows, but Mimi, Parker, Daddy and me like trucks."
Me *huh*

__________

Yoda:"Here mommy -- I broke this -- you can fix it -- Mimi said so."
Me *huh*

Fitting In

When I dropped Yoda off at preschool his teacher, Miss Tonya said they were going to lay down on big paper and trace an "X" with their bodies.

It's as very cute idea, but in my head I thought, "there's no way Yoda will do that".

When he got home he was very excited to show his "X".  We put the paper on the ground, but he wouldn't lay down on it to make the "X" with his body.

So I asked him:"did Miss Tonya trace you on this paper?"
His response,"No, Landon (another kid at school) laid down for this 'X'."
*u-huh*
but he did lay down for a photo, hmmm...
______________

Mimi is still trying to fit into things she's just too big for!

Here she is in Yoda's pj's.

And she has found a new basket to relax in.

I haven't blogged about the house in a while...

I'm happy to have a pantry, but the shelves had to go!  They were bendy and tough to move stuff around.  Also there was a lip at the end of the shelf that made me tip things over on a daily basis.

This is another one of those projects where I think about it for years, finally tell Greg, and then we take care of it that same weekend.  silly me.

Here's our pantry before.  The door broke off and it took forever to find the right supplies to fix it.

I went to the store to buy lumber and shelf brackets and came home to this on the table. Greg must be serious!

He had ripped out the shelves and then we filled in a whole latta holes.

Wire shelves out!

Yoda made sure things were level.

Mimi made sure there was a lot of love.

This was a good practice chore for us.  We have a lot to learn about building things.  We learned a bunch from these shelves.

AFTER!
Even with the microwave in the pantry and going from 6 shelves to 5, we use way more of our available space.
Lower shelves for big stuff, even my 6 gallon buckets.  I buy in bulk.

Along the side I have the shallow baskets from the Container store, they are genius.

Up top, lots of baskets with the handles on them.  So convenient.  I have the little empty containers for quick snack packing in the hanging basket.  Costco has "pantry ready" boxes, they are also genius.

We started this in November '12, but it wasn't until today that I bought the last bin and realized we were officially finished.  Maybe in another 5 months I'll finish another project, I hope :)
