Superman the photographer

We went for a long walk this week. To help pass the time Superman played with my camera. Here are few of the highlights from the trip. I deleted the other 100 pictures that he took. Ah, to see the world as a 4-year-old.
Here we walked through CVS, it's short and silly. Don't bother waiting for it if you don't have a minute. You get a glimpse of Mimi chewing on keys.

Rockport, Mass

Grandma Shauna came to visit this week, we did a bunch of cool stuff. One was going to Rockport, Mass. It is home to the famous fishing shack, affectionately nicknamed Motif #1. Lots of people come to look at it, take it's picture and some even sit and paint it. While we sat looking at the water, we saw a lobster boat show up and bring a bunch of lobsters to the docks for the surrounding restaurants. I didn't take a picture of this, even though it was cool and picturesque, because I'm sure these hard working guys are sick of tourists like me taking pictures of them as if they are quaint, when they are just doing their job.

Paul McCartney/Superman

I love Paul McCartney, I just do. Our "Superman" loves Superman, he talks about him ALL the time. A few weeks ago Greg and I celebrated the 13th anniversary of the day we met by buying Paul's latest album. On the back of the CD there was this spare picture ready to peel off and stick anywhere. Superman saw it where Greg had hung it up in the kitchen for me to look at anytime of the day. He has no idea who it is, but decided that he knew what it is that Paul is doing in this picture, this is what he said:"See this guy? He's turning into Superman"

Brief return of summer

It was also so warm this week that we got some real water in the pool.

What a week

Superman was sick this week so we did a lot of inside activities. The above picture is Mimi calling a small play-dough mold of R2D2 "baby".
Here Superman and Mimi "help" Dad get ready for some Bar-B-Q.

Here's another use for food storage, rolling on the big cans until you fall over.
When Superman was so sick he fell asleep on the couch and Mimi is shushing him, with an apple in her mouth--of course.

Superman reads the right words

I was dressing Mimi for sleep, but she wanted to read the book Yum, Yum. Since Superman has that book memorized, I asked him to read it to Mimi while I finished pulling over her onesie.

The book has a call and response structure. "What does the cow eat?" "The cow eats grass, but what does the horse eat?"

The text of the cat section of the book reads, "What does the cat eat?" "The cat drinks milk."

Superman has always been uncomfortable with the nonparallel nature of the cat narrative. When I read him the book, he always corrects me. "What does the cat drink?"

Now that he is reading to Mimi , he "reads," "What does the cat drink?" and then added, editorially, "It doesn't say 'eat' it says 'drink.'"

First day of school

Superman started his 2nd year of preschool this fall. This isn't actually his first day, and we weren't actually on our way to school, we were on our way to the store to buy socks, as a matter of fact. Mimi does NOT like to be left out, she found this back pack (called "BA!") and wore it most of the day. She cries SO loud when we drop off Superman and she doesn't get to stay. My children have no separation anxiety.

Getting dressed

This morning I put on this green shirt. I looked over to Mimi and saw that I had earlier dressed her in exact same color. So I changed shirts, to the exact same one as Superman! I did soon change to a shirt that didn't match them, but not after I took these pictures.

Longing For Summer

Mimi dragged the pool from the basement. Although it wasn't chilly, it certainly wasn't warm enough for swimming. So I told them to use pretend water. Superman is still annoyed: "I want real water, not pretend water! That's cregible!" (that's his word he says, I think it's a combination of crazy and incredible--so I have no idea how to actually spell it.)

We have started my favorite time of year. I love fall, winter holidays, and cool weather. I would love Spring more, but that has the promise of hot summer days ahead. I know I'm in the minority on the subject, but I also like afternoon church, call me cregible.

Greg finished one more part of his independent study class (one that replaces part of his actuary exam). This week he has his test that finished the class--each step gets us closer to him finishing!

Walk

Yesterday was beautiful, but chilly, so we went for a walk. When we were on our way out, Superman requested mittens and a hat. Mimi wanted them too. They look wild with all these colors and stripes.

It was so nice, I may have stayed out a little too long. Mimi started to get antsy. And when we came home, I parked the stroller and with out telling Superman my plan to get the camera, he sadly said "you're getting your camera." He knows me so well.

Dancing

Tonight, Superman and Greg were wrestling, apparently Greg was a little to rough because Superman said, "I'm NOT your basketball. Look, I'm just a boy!"
Dancing in the kitchen to some rock and roll. The video is dark, so turn up the brightness on your monitor and use your imagination. BTW they are listening to John Mayer. If you can see it, Mimi frowns the end because she sees the refrigerator and remembers that she would like to drink milk--all the time!
