My hero

Me:"Would you please get some milk out of fridge for Mimi?"
Indiana:"And now for another exciting adventure of *du-du-du-da!* 'Saving Baby!'"

Indiana, while shopping for a new lamp for his room:"Oh, a dance globe!"
Me:*snicker*
Indiana:"What? Sometimes I don't like to dance in the daylight."

Trip to Utah: Time in Moab part 2

We headed to Arches the same day as most of the tourists. This is my favorite 2 shots,
one look and it seems you are in the middle of nowhere...
...the next view you can see tons of tourists and, yup, that's a wedding. Funny, when I was a little girl I never once dreamt of hiking and needing sunblock for my wedding day.
Here are Greg and Indiana on double arch.
Mimi mostly laid down in the dirt, and all the tourist laughed as they past, some even took pictures.

On Dad's property, those kids love to play in the sand-yuck!

Mimi spent a bunch of time listening to "start spreading the news" on this snow globe of NYC.

Lots of days with no sleep, desert sun and wind and 2 hours of swimming made Mimi do something that she almost never does.

Grandma washing her up after each time she got dirty, I would have stopped after the first time, but grandmas are much nicer then I am.
More dirt, and happy about it!

Mother's Day

For mother's day I got a nap and I dreamt of ice cream cake, when I woke up I got this:
Some dreams do come true. Also, what mother's day would be complete without a little BBQ dance?

Trip to Utah: Time in Moab part 1

I have lots to write about our trip out West, but I'll start with the part that Indiana hasn't stopped talking about. My dad has been itching to take Indi hunting and shooting since he was born, now was the time.
Serious look
Surprised look
What he shot--if you look close, the milk jug in the middle has just a single shot through it. The next day they actually hunted for turkeys, but as Indiana puts it:"the turkeys won, but we got 10 points". That means that there were no turkeys in sight but that the boys (Greg went too) spent 2 fun days in the mountains.

My mom got a couple of books for Indi and they did a lot of reading
Indi:"I love it already!"
On the way home they spent a bunch of time reading the books some more and at one point Mimi was even nibbling on one of the books.*
Greg:"Stop eating that book!"
Mimi:"It tastes so good!"

I know you can't wait for more, there's even Star Wars Puppetry to report on...

*This is a sign of great affection in our family. When Indiana was 11 months old, his aunt Sonya took him to a book store. As they were leaving, I warned her that sometimes he nibbles on books, but only the ones he loves. Later that night she reported that he did really well at the store, but as soon as he saw Goodnight Moon (a classic, loved by most kids) he swiftly put it in his mouth.

More Gardening

As requested, here's a picture of Mimi helping herself.

Before we left on our trip, I was handing out lettuce like you wouldn't believe, I even brought some with us to Moab for my parents. When we came home, here is what we found:
EVEN MORE LETTUCE! I will never plant this much again. I can deal with too many tomatoes, but what am I supposed to do with SO MUCH LETTUCE? There is just so much chewing I can do! On the left is peas, I have never grown them before, I didn't know what to expect.

Happy Memorial Day

On our way home from the Memorial Day picnic Greg left in his car and the kids and I left in the other car.
Indi:"Let's race dad home!"
Me:"He's going shopping first"
Indi:"Then he'll lose!"

2 demands of a 3-yr-old and one explanation of a 6-yr-old

Mimi upset that Indiana isn't listening to her:"he won't hear to me"

Mimi upset that my eyes were squinting in the sun:"hey, turn those up!"

Indiana explaining why he hit Mimi:"I got so mad, that I got impolite."

bonus quote:
Mimi trying to figure what the name of a certain dinosaur is:"I can't know what it!"

Around Town

We drove to a part of town that we haven't ever driven through before--it was quaint and cozy. This was the reaction from the back seat:

"Wow! What a city!"
"Look! the buildings have bricks! And doors."
"Look! Shops, and art shop."
"Can we go in there, please!?"
It's like these are my children after all.

My mom

I've learned way too much from my mom to list in totality, but as I was playing in my garden today, and because its Mother's Day, I just kept thinking about her. I know that sometimes when people go on and on about the affection they have for a loved one, it can sometimes be unimportant to the normal readers of public blogs, but since my mom was the reason for the birth of this blog, I decided I'm going to do it anyway.

Gardening
Pancakes
Sitting outside on a good day, and appreciating it.
Making birthdays special
Making art
Museums
Camping
Quilting
Crafting
Going to the city
Tomatoes
Being productive
Writing letters to mom (I'll never think of typewriters without thinking of my mom clacking away at a letter to her mom that lived so far away)

I could think of more, and I probably will...

I'll add:
Recycling
Sledding
but not the beach, I only go so that I can be with you guys:)

yum

Mimi rarely eats lettuce on her plate, but I often find her here tearing lettuce out of the rabbit fence and munching away. It's so healing to get my hands dirty in the garden after all those winter months of anticipation. My great, big garden just might make up for the fact that I had to leave a place like Boston with houses that have actual architectural interest to move to a place with track homes.

Lettuce anyone?
I'm not kidding, does anyone want some lettuce?
