Mimi, "What's boogie boarding?"
Greg, "Well it's..."
Yoda * interrupting * "I know what it is, it's when you're on a surf board but you get up and dance"
*************************
Mimi, "Have you ever been numb?"
Me, "yes"
Mimi, "And when you're not numb anymore it really hurts"
Me, confused, "it hurts?"
Mimi, "yeah, like when it's waking up from falling asleep"
Me (oh, she means when your hand falls asleep), "some people call that 'pins and needles'"
Mimi, "It doesn't hurt as much as a real needle, because I've had a real needle poked in me" --referring to when she had to get stitches in this post.

Parker Turns 13!
Hey, everyone, there's a teenager in the house! And this one is awesome. He's kind to his younger siblings, jumps out of bed each morning to get to school, does his homework and keeps his room clean. Believe me, he's got his challenges, and they are tough ones! Stuff that I didn't anticipate when I thought about being a mom. But he's working to become an even more amazing big kid.
Side note about the cake, we found a fun bakery in the city that had these good looking Christmas cakes. He thought it would be fun to get one, and it was great. We may go there again....
I never thought I'd allow a handheld-gaming-device for my kiddos, but Parker is in an very unique Middle School that happens to be pretty far from our house, so the bus ride is forever. He has to earn the right to have the DS each day, by having his work done, and done well.
This year has been meant lots of changes for our boy, lots. Just look at what he looked like just one year ago!

Is it too late for a Christmas post?
I'm a little behind on my posts, this might happen most years...Here's Christmas 2015!
We made a Lego/eco/gingerbread house--check out that windmill!
Christmas Photobomb
Even Mimi got in on the photobomb
BB-8 joined the family from Aunt Sonya
How to make a 13 year old happy: a multi-tool from Nana!
Marble maze madness from Aunt Tina!
We had a great Christmas--I promised it would be small because we spent most of our Christmas budget in Orlando over the summer, but we still have fun! Other highlights: Hot Chocolate and College fund contributions from Aunt Jill, Movie ticket gift cards from Aunt Merisa, and fun money from Aunt Michelle and Uncle Bruce as well as Grandma and Granddad.

what I hear...
While opening a box of Special K cereal.
Yoda said, "You like Special K"
Me, "I like you. You're special"
Yoda, "and you're K"
**************
Mimi, "When you scratch an itch under a hat, you're just really scratching the hat."

Uh Life...
Later I was walking out of the airport after my trip, Greg was not there to pick me up. He called the cell phone to tell me that he was at the urgent care getting Mimi stitched up after her finger was slammed in the backdoor. AH!
(Mimi with her splint--"I can't do thumbs up, so I guess I have to do guns up")
Yoda, "I didn't know my eyes could be pink!"
So I hustle him to the same urgent care that Mimi and Greg are leaving, hoping to find them there.... They are NOT there. But Greg says he'll come back with our Health Savings Account debit card -- All this is happening while Greg is in between jobs and therefore without insurance. Haven't I mentioned that? Sorry... I'll explain all that later if you don't already know the details. (According to me, health insurance we've had over the years hasn't really been all that beneficial, maybe the best part is the fact that there is a negotiated rate that is lower then the non-insured rate. Maybe I misunderstand the whole industry, I digress...)
The staff at urgent care giggle as they see Mimi and Greg show up with Yoda and me. They know all about my trip away from home and laugh that I returned to things falling apart.
We get a prescription for Yoda and head home. The house is in mid mom's-coming-home-let's-clean-up mode. Greg had done a perfect job keeping the house running while I was gone, but it's now all falling apart.
(here's Yoda and his pink-eyes, believe me, you don't want a close up.)
Now Greg is feeling itchy eyes... life does keep you on your toes!
* after waiting for a few seconds for the person in front of me in line at the taxi stand. They were arguing about the price and threatening to call an Uber car or something. I was 10 seconds away from telling everyone to get the heck out of my way so I could get home! Finally the taxi stand guy motioned for me to take the cab, I threw my stuff in the open truck and hopped in the back seat.

what's a bang?
While Mimi and I were discussing the possibility of her cutting bangs in her hair (she's thinking about it, I'm campaigning that she stay bang-less) Yoda couldn't take it anymore...
"what's a bang?"
It made us remember this conversation with Parker from years ago...

Mimi was working on homework and was stuck.
"Dad, can I have your smart-help?"
Greg was not sure how to respond
"I've never been asked for that before."

a town not far from us is called Westerville (we talked about it in this post). We like to have fun with it's name:
Parker, "I think this is Westervill-age"
Another time, "Where's Easterville?"
